This page, containing information regarding the charter of Logical Language Research Committee (LLRC), a putative standing committee of the LLG, exists and is maintained for historical reference and perspective.

History

The Charter was proposed by And Rosta in the 2019 LLG Members' Meeting (original version not shown).

One or two relatively minor tweaks (See pre-nerf version) were made, including the final name (originally Loglang Research Committee (LRC)).

A more serious change to the proposal was the axing of the website provision by LLG president immediately prior to vote (See nerfed version).

The proposal was PASSED by vote:

  • The seven voting yes in order were Solpahi, Lynn, And Rosta, Xorxes, Ilmen, Pierre Abbat, and BookOfPortals.
  • The one voting no was Gleki.
  • The two abstaining were Lojbab and Karen.
  • Supporters among observers were Maiku and DerSaidin, and others(?).

The Committee was never instantiated with initial members (and at the time of this writing most likely never will be).

Logical Language Research Committee & Website Proposal (Current Draft)

In the furtherance of the general purposes stated in Article 2 Section 1 of the LLG Bylaws, purchase a domain name and provide the necessary funding for hosting a new LLG-sponsored website. The exact domain name of the new website is to be decided later, but should contain either "loglangs" or "logicallanguages".

Establish a new standing committee, called the "Logical Language Research Committee" a.k.a. the LLRC, to create, build and maintain the new website.

The purpose of the LLRC and its new website will be the general study and promotion of both existing and new constructed, human-speakable logical languages ("loglangs"). Much as the organization known as the Language Creation Society endeavors to provide public resources useful to language creators ("conlangers") generally, the LLRC, through its website, will endeavor to provide public resources useful to logical language creators, learners and researchers generally. Of course, these resources will also be available and potentially valuable for the continuing effort to document the Lojban language.

The LLRC is directed to select a chairperson, or a spokesperson, who will represent it as necessary before the Board of Directors and any Annual or Special Meeting of the LLG. Apart from this directive, the LLRC is expressly empowered to determine its own decision-making process and pursue its own agenda within the scope of its charge as specified in this Charter.
